Hey, it's my first post of the new Year. 01/01/10. Too many ones and zeros, scary. haha. I'm watching Leatherheads, it's quite interesting, and I do say so myself.
I am currently edditing my story called Utopia, I'm on Chapter Seven. But I haven't explained Utopia yet have I?
Utopia, it's a story about this girl. Her name is Aithne. She has an interesing past in a perfect world. Aithne is 15 and is set upon a job to find a man who had broken the first law. "What are these laws you are talking about?" Well, I'm getting there. So Aithne is set upon this mission with her friend River, and she learns throughout that maybe her Utopia is really the real world after all.
This is the BLURG of Utopia.
Utopia, a perfect place, what people like you would call a dream.
I call it home
It's perfect, no war, no pain. The laws are simple, There would only be two.
1) There is no bloodshed
2) Breaking the laws is punishable.
By Death.
So that is the backstory of Utopia. Well not really the backstory, but I think you get the point. So Here's Chapter One of Utopia.
UTOPIA
CHAPTER ONE
"Good morning, it is time to wake up." the alarm went off, and I smiled.
"Good morning, it is time to wake up."
"Alarm off." I said, and there was silence. I sat up from my silk white bed, and scratched my bed head.
"Room change," I said aloud. The room changed colors from a ivory black to a ivy white. The doors to my closet and bathroom opened, and I climbed out of the bed. The sheets were then set to its original state, perfect.
"Aithne, Good morning." the computer said.
"Morning," I walked into the bathroom and brushed my teeth, and fixed my hair, so that it was perfectly straight in the glass above the sink.
"What shall I go with today? My brown from yesterday is boring me." I said, looking at my profile. My face was what every girl would want it to be, slender, but not bony, full red lips, long lashes, startling Envy blue eyes, and a fair, but somewhat tan complextion. My body was also perfect, skinny, but not anerexic, and semi-built. My only flaw, was my hair. It was pure silver.
I stepped into the shower, and washed out the dye from a few days ago. I stepped out in a towel to look at my pathetic hair, I hated it.
"Should I go red-head today? It's been a while, or maybe strawberry blonde. I know that suits me." I said to herself, and shrugged at the blank responce from the computer.
"Um, you're a lot of help."
"Thank you." the computer then answered. I laughed, as usual, the computer didn't have a clue what sarcasm was.
"I think I'll have strawberry blonde, with... Red highlights." I said, Two tubes appeared and I thought for a second.
"Then again, I'll have red and teal blue highlights." A third tube popped out, and I smiled with accomplishment, even though I hadn't done anything. I applied the blonde dye in my hair, and heat lamps above me went on, so the dye could dry quickly. I added the red and blue next, and was completely finished in about twenty minutes. Even with so much technology, things did take their time.
I looked in the mirror, and couldn't help but smirk, I turned my head from side to side to see the whole view. As usual, I, was perfect.
"Time." I said.
"Ten Thirty-Two A.M. Is there a problem?"
"No, just curious." I reply.
"You do know it is day six of the week. There is no class." the computer informed me. I giggled.
"Yes, I know. Thanks anyways."
"You are welcome Aithne."
I stared at my reflection in the glass and smiled. Perfect, I looked a bit more normal, in a really pretty way. I laughed at how my hair curled at the tips, the dye was definitely something else.
"Closet," I announced, walking out of the bathroom. The walls across from my bed shimmered and opened up to another, a bit smaller, room. I walked in and cocked my head to the side.
"I think I'll go... punk, haven't done that in a while. I need a new look anyways." Two drawers opened to the left of me, full of arm warmers, belly cut shirts, strapless, fishnets, skirts and jean shorts. I took out a pair of neon pink fishnets, a black strapless, and a jean-pleaded skirt. I put them on, and strided to the full view mirror at the edge of the room.
"Ribbons?" suddenly, two burgandy ribbons appeared next to me, and I fixed my hair into two, low pigtails.
"Now, I look like an individual." I walked out of the my room into the main parlor, and out into the courtyard. The morning sun shined brightly, and I looked at my glass bracelet that I always kept on.
"Time." I said to it.
"Eleven-Sixteen. Would you like me to call a ship, or-"
"I think I'll skate, thank you." I went back inside, and grabbed my in-lines.
"It may be the year 2683, but I still like to do somethings early 1900's, if you get what I mean." I say to the PAC, Portable Apparel Computer, on my wrist.
"I understand completely." I smile. Technology was so perfect these days. It took time to understand that PACs and Home Comps weren't in existence a few centuries ago.
I slipped on my blades and grabbed the wall to stand up, smiling. It had been a while since I last skated, usually it's boarding, or maybe the ships.
"Off I go!" I shouted and skated off from my domain. My blades were perfect, custom made to look like the ancient skates you saw in showrooms. I skated on the glass pavement of the streets to the public spree domain. People stared as I skated by, and I waved to them all. Apparently, I was the only one causing trouble in this perfect world of mine.
A ship passed overhead, I could see the fine details, marking it of the council. Everything by the council was Oxygen Blue, and had silver crevisives and spirals on the doors and edges of the windows. Other ships passed by, close to rush hour, I thought.
"To the side Aithne. A ship landing." my PAC said, and I skated to a resting place, aside of the main pavement. A rose painted ship lowered to the ground, and the main door rose, opening. A figure came out of the vehicle, and I smiled.
"Aithne, what are you doing?" the figure said, coming into view.
"Nothing River, are you here to bind me?" I asked, joking. I had known River since I had been able to talk, she had blue-black hair that was cut short, and startling grey eyes. Her complexion was fair, and loved to laugh. Her guardians were of the council, so she was high up in society.
"No, don't be silly. You haven't done anything wrong." she pondered over that thought for a minute.
"Have you?" she finally said. I giggled.
"No, I've been a perfect little devil." I grinned, Binding was a punishment for creating trouble, not bloodshed, just trouble. Like putting down another, or taking what is not rightfully theirs. I had only been binded once, and that was a small matter I did not want to remember at the moment.
"How quaint. So what are you doing? Especially in that outfit?" River questioned, she knew about my routine, I never looked exactly the same every morning. It was always a surprise to everyone, including myself.
"I was going to roam the city, unless you have something better for me. A job perhaps?" Like any other fourteen year-old, I had to take on a job every once in a while. Sometimes it would be a simple delivery, or helping an older towns folk. But other times, it would be something serious, like passing judgement on another, binding someone, or other serious work for the council. Everyone did their fair share of work, until they receive a job for like, which was given when the council saw it right. You were always watched.
"Well, now that you say that..." she put her finger to lips and smirked. I rolled my eyes. It was a job.
"You got a pretty serious one." River took a piece of paper out of her pocket and handed it to before turning back into the ship that lay impatiently hovering over the ground.
"Opening it when you get back to your domain, you'll see what I mean. Have fun!" she sang the last sentence sarcastically, and I shook my head. Back to work.
I turned back to my domain, and skated as quick as I could, clutching the paper in my hands. I took off my skates when I arrived, and sat in a chair in my sleep room.
"Light Dark," I said, and immediately, the glasses were covered up, and there was just enough light to see the paper infront of my face. I carefully undid the folds of the paper, wondering what assignment I had got.
I read the words over, and over, and over again, not believing the letters.
Aithne Bloodgood,
You have been requested on a hunt for a man who has broken the first law. You are to bring him back to the council as quick as possible. Failure will be punished.
severly
The council
Only two words came to my mind.
Oh dear.
